Abstract
The modern emphasis on culture and identity necessitates understanding their influence on societies, recognizing that comprehending a society requires grasping its cultural values. However, positivist approaches to the human sciences present limitations. International relations scholarship often operates within two dominant epistemological frameworks: positivism and post-positivism. This research addresses the question: How can a post-positivist approach facilitate a more accurate understanding of the political and cultural challenges facing Iran? The hypothesis is that a post-positivist approach enables a deeper understanding by focusing on the interplay of politics and culture, and by critically examining prevailing perceptions within these domains.
