Abstract
This study analyzes the ideological discourse of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) as expressed in its 2024 manifesto, focusing on the themes of nationalism and national identity. Using critical discourse analysis, particularly van Dijk's approach, the research examines the MHP's manifesto through six dimensions: text, policies and ideologies, actors and roles, social and cultural contexts, perspectives, and outcomes. These dimensions help to identify how ideologies are either reinforced or challenged. The analysis reveals the MHP's strategic use of Turkish nationalism as a tool for fostering national unity and strength in response to global challenges. The findings indicate that the party crafts its language thoughtfully, using nuanced vocabulary and powerful phrasing to frame Turkish nationalism as a cornerstone of Turkey’s national identity and independence. Furthermore, by positioning the "Turkish nation" as the main protagonist, the MHP aims to solidify a strong sense of national identity and foster resilience against the impacts of globalization.
